Coach Oscar Aguilera

Professional Baseball Instructor

Coach Oscar migrated from Nicaragua in 1991. His family settled in Greenport, Long Island where he was embraced by his community. Coach Oscar played community baseball in Nicaragua until the age of 11 when he migrated to New York. Coach Aguilera began to play baseball as well in his community.  Baseball is the number one sport in Nicaragua, Oscar already understood and loved this game. Baseball coaches from the community invited Oscar to try out for the little league team. Due to his abilities and knowledge of the game, his coaches placed him as a catcher. Oscar supported the team by going undefeated for the two seasons he played with them, and he was selected to play for two different all-star teams that played in the New York state region toward the little league world series.

Oscar attended Greenport High School in Long Island, New York. Oscar played baseball four years from 1995-1999. Coach Oscar pursued a military career in the U.S Marines and attributed his leadership style and dedication to his community to his 16 years of service in the active duty and reserve component. College Aguilera attended Fairmont State University and played two seasons of football with the Fighting falcons.

Oscar attributes overcoming challenging moments in his childhood to community support, coaches, and baseball. Oscar currently holds multiple coaching positions within his community at Penn State New Kensington as the assistant coach, catcher coach, team recruiter and recruiter of Latin American Baseball players.  Coach Aguilera finds passion in the development of youth through baseball by coaching community teams and supporting the CANES412.
